Aligarh Muslim University Alumni Association of greater Chicago organized a musical evening with Tehseen Javed and Sadia Malik on March 31, 2018. Dr. Ateeq Ahmad was the convener of the event. The program started with a Hamd-e-Bari Taala by Sadia Malik.
Dr. Ateeq Ahmad introduced Sadia Malik who is famous for singing the difficult songs of Malika-i-Tarannum Noor Jahan. She enthralled the audience with famous songs, such as, Mudat hue hey yaar ko mehman kiye, Mujh sey pehli si muhabbat, Awaz dey kahan hey, etc. She also paid tribute to Reshman and Lata Mangeshkar by singing their famous songs.
After 20 minutes’ tea break, Mr. Tehseen Javed entertained the audience with a combination of his famous songs as well as those sung by other famous artists, such as, Ahmad Rushdi, Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, and Kishore Kumar. He paid a mesmerizing tribute to Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan by presenting the medley of his famous songs. He delighted the audience with a Pashto song. This entertaining event was concluded with Dhamal, “dama dum mast qalandar” sung by both artists which received a lot of applause from the audience.
This event was attended by more than 100 people which not only indicates their love for Asian music but also their interest and eagerness for promoting Girls education in the underprivileged areas of a developing country like India. This event was graced by the presence of Mr Faisal Niaz Tirmizi Pakistan Consul General, Chicago.

Dr. Zafeer Ahmad thanked all the sponsors, especially Shahid Ahmed and Mariam Darsot, Midwest Sleep Institute (Gurnee), K & M Auto (Round Lake), Vaseem Iftekhar, Usmania Fine Dining (Chicago), Dr. Inam Hussain, Dr. Abdul Aziz, DESI Needs (Gurnee), Dr Galvez Milagros, DDS (Park City), Diana and Dr. Syed Haider for their generous contribution. To raise funds, an exhibition of Sadqain’s calligraphic pieces was also the part of this program.
Dr. Zafeer Ahmad, president of AMUAA-GC, informed the audience about the recently completed and ongoing projects of AMUAA-GC to support education of underprivileged girls in India.
The program was concluded with vote of thanks by Mr. Anis Khan, Chairman EC Board.
